What contaminants do our water systems remove?
Our water systems are engineered to significantly reduce or eliminate a wide range of contaminants, providing you with cleaner, safer water.
Sediment filters: designed to remove sediment, dirt, rust, sand, and other particulate matter from the water. They improve water clarity and protect downstream filters, such as carbon filters and RO membranes, from premature clogging.
Carbon filters: effectively remove chlorine, chloramine, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), pesticides, herbicides, and other chemicals that can affect taste and odor.
Reverse-osmosis (RO) membranes: highly effective at removing a broad spectrum of contaminants, including lead, arsenic, fluoride, heavy metals, bacteria, viruses, cysts, and PFAS.
How do I install my water system?
Each water system comes with a detailed installation manual. We also offer links to online video tutorials to assist with the install. Customer support is available to help guide you through the process if you would like to send us a message. If you're uncomfortable with small DIY installations, we recommend finding a professional installer in your area.
Do your water systems require any maintenance?
Beyond filter replacement, minimal maintenance is required. Periodically wipe down the exterior of the system and check for any leaks. Refer to your system manual for any specific maintenance instructions.
Returns
Can I return my water system?
Yes, you can return your water system if you are not satisfied. Due to the nature of the product, the water system must be unused and be returned within 30 days of purchase. Please refer to our Terms of Service policy for full details.
Technical & water science
How often do I need to replace the filters/membrane?
Filter replacement frequency depends on your water usage and local water quality. Maintaining optimal water quality requires replacing filters regularly. Typically, we recommend these general guidelines:
Pre-filters: every 3–6 months. These filters handle the initial removal of larger particles and chlorine, protecting your RO membrane.
RO membrane: every 12 months. Keeping your membrane in great condition is critical to obtaining high-quality pure water.
Your actual replacement schedule may vary based on your water usage and the specific quality of your local water supply. We strongly recommend regular water testing to confirm your water quality and fine-tune your filter replacement schedule for peak performance.
How do I know if my water system is working correctly?
Regularly checking the water flow and taste is a good starting point. A decrease in water pressure or an unusual taste or odor can signal the need for filter or membrane replacement. However, for more accurate monitoring, consider these methods:
TDS meters (Total Dissolved Solids): a TDS meter measures the total amount of dissolved solids in your water. Pure water with a significant drop in TDS indicates effective filtration. Regularly monitoring TDS levels can help you track your system's performance over time.
Water test strips: offer a quick and easy way to check for specific contaminants like chlorine, hardness, or pH. These strips can provide a general indication of water quality between professional lab tests.
For more comprehensive water-quality analysis, consider periodic laboratory testing. If you have any concerns about your system's performance, please contact our customer support for assistance.
Are your water systems compatible with all water sources?
Our water systems are primarily designed for use with municipal water supplies. However, they could be adapted for use with a variety of water sources with appropriate pre-treatment. In emergency scenarios where access to safe drinking water is limited, our systems may provide some level of filtration for untreated water. However, we strongly advise against using our systems with water known or suspected to be heavily contaminated or unsanitized without proper pre-treatment. Consuming unsanitized water can pose serious health risks. Our systems are not a substitute for proper water sanitation.
It is crucial to understand that using our systems with untreated or improperly treated water can compromise their performance and potentially lead to health risks. It is recommended to conduct thorough water testing before using our systems with unknown water sources.
How much water does my water system use?
Water usage can vary depending on several factors. Here's a breakdown of the factors influencing water usage:
Water pressure: lower water pressure can reduce the efficiency of the RO system, leading to increased water usage. Optimal water pressure is crucial for efficient operation.
Water temperature: colder water generally requires higher pressure and may result in increased water usage.
Filter condition: clogged or old filters can reduce system efficiency and increase water waste. Regular filter replacements are essential for optimal performance.
Feed-water TDS: high levels of total dissolved solids (TDS) in the incoming water can increase the amount of wastewater produced and decrease overall system performance.
While RO systems do produce wastewater, the benefits of purified water often outweigh the water usage. Consider optimizing your system's performance and ensuring regular maintenance to minimize water waste.
